PKR is an animated 3D poker room launched in August of 2006. It features run-of-the-mill tournaments, mostly Hold’em, and a number of good incentives for signing up with real money. But PKR is much more than the games it offers.
PKR puts player behind a fully customizable 3D avatar situated in one of several locations. The player could choose to be a giant Norseman playing Omaha on the beach or a diminutive Inuit playing Hold’em in a casino.
Though there is something fun about playing poker as a character rather than as a floating hand at an empty table, ultimately, PKR is a novelty. It takes even the strongest of computers quite some time to download all of the necessary software. While it is interesting to watch an avatar make your moves for you, due to the time it takes for the avatars to perform the animated maneuvers, the game does not move nearly as quickly as it does on non-animated sites.
While PKR.com is on it's own network, feel free to check out BetFair and Absolute Poker that are also independent networks.
